Now the good news!!! We’ll get started again in September, and we have some exciting speakers tentatively lined up for September and beyond.  We’ve just confirmed with all of the following people that they will speak to the group…sometime (now we just need to nail down the scheduling):

• Ron Jefferies (see also) and Chet Hendrickson (Chet worked at Chrysler for the “original” XP project, and Ron has written multiple books) – tentative September.
  
• “Agile Bob” (a Certified Scrum Coach – check out his website!) – tentative October.
  
• Luke Hohmann (Coach, Author, and creator of Innovation Games) – tentative TBD.
  

UPDATE: I talked to Chet yesterday, and he and Ron are 90% committed to one night between September 22nd – September 24th.  I’ll let you know when we get it nailed down.  A special note: Ron and Chet are in Phoenix 9/22-9/24 teaching a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) class.  I’ve seen Ron and Chet talk – they are pragmatic, good, and have REAL experience.  I talked with Chet about their class, and their CSM class is quite unique.  They teach a 3-day class (for the same money as the standard 2-day class), and they run the entire class using Scrum! So the students participate in a Scrum project to learn Scrum.  By the time you get out of that class, you’ve actually done a scrum project.  NOW THE BONUS PART: Chet didn’t know the details, but he said he would try to arrange a discount to our PHXSUG members.  So if you’re interested, send me an email to perry@phxsug.org.  If I get some interest, I’ll push Chet on the discount.

The Phoenix Scrum User Group Steering Committee wants to create a thriving community around Scrum and agile practices.  Interactive communication withing the group is key to this goal.  Use of a Yahoo! Group has served the larger Scrum community well with excellent participation and information in the scrumdevelopment group, among others.  We want the email lists from our PHXSUG group to feed our knowledge and value as we improve our Scrum practices together.
