Description: Writing and Grooming User Stories
(With an emphasis on splitting)
User stories are part of an agile approach that helps shift the focus from writing about requirements to talking about outcomes. They are expected to be simple brief descriptions, written from the perspective of the user who desires the functionality. But before a story can be recognized as "ready" and the implementation started, we need to ensure that it is “Sized Right”. However, many user stories start out too large. "Splitting" is the art of breaking up a user story into 2 or more smaller ones, while retaining the independence of each user story, so it has measurable business value.
Join me Todd Sussman, as we discuss the problems that user stories were intended to solve, learn how to recognize high quality stories, as well as look at common patterns for decomposing larger ones.
